The Article ‘Internet Addiction: Too Much Time Online?’ discusses the effects of Internet Addiction and how to spot if your child has a habit or is growing a habit of spending too much time on social media. I personally believe that teenagers spend too much time online. I probably put in 6 hours a day on average and most of my friends are like that as well. It seems like a might have a few signs of compulsive internet use, but it’s usually on Friday’s… All my media use is from playing computer games, and the occasional TV show or movie. My parents think I spend too much time online and that I should go outside more. I would if other kids went out and joined me but I’m seeing that more and more kids at a younger age are spending more than 6 hours on average on media compared to me. I know a kid who is about 9 years old and he’s been playing video games since he was in pre K, he’s a beast now. I think the amount teenagers spend online is nothing compared to what it’s going to be like in the future when more interactive media is released. As it stands right now teenagers have a link to reality and can easily stop and do something else; they’re not linked to close with media. With the advances and the rate of technology I think soon teenagers will be spending 12 hours on media easy and not having a single clue what going on outside they’re little heads.
