The article, “Internet Addiction: Too Much Time Online”, discusses the issue of internet addiction. I
personally believe that a majority of teenagers spend too much time online. Teenagers should be able
to balance their media intake to live successful lives. The parents of teenagers that are addicted to the
internet should be fully aware of any negative effects that could happen to the adolescents. In the
article it states that the media “robs them of real world experiences”. I can agree to that to some
degree. I myself sometimes never leave the house for my entire weekend. I can justify this
somewhat, due to the fact I was gaming. However, it was a new game and I was itching to finish it. I’m
getting off topic, here. Like I said earlier, teenagers should be able to balance their schoolwork,
relationships, media and important duties. I do believe that the internet can be addicting, it is not the
problem. The real problem is the parent or guardian not keeping tabs on their children. It is also the
users fault for not using proper planning skills, or having any self restraint. This problem will only get
worse as teenagers are constantly getting new platforms to suck their time away.
