The article ‘Internet Addiction: Too Much Time Online’ discusses that teenager ages 8-18 spend too much time online. I personally believe that teenagers spend too much time online. Study shows that on average teens spend 10 hours and 45 minutes a day on the internet. Spending this much time with media may result in lower grades. This then leads to depression. Depression then leads to lack of sleep and maybe even suicide. A part of the blame is the parent. Parents should limit their child to the internet. Or at least only allow them to use the internet after they finish their homework. For most kids their online use is relatively well managed. They have a good balance of sports, school, homework, and friends. Unfortunately, a small percentage of youth are “compulsive, uncontrolled, or pathological.” Over time, media use has increased a lot. For anyone that is addicted, it will be harder than ever to stop.
