The article “Internet Addiction: Too Much Time Online” discusses people nowadays, especially teenagers, are associated with media online more than they actually need to. I personally believe that teenagers spend too much time online. Teenagers are not aware of the amount of time they actually spent. This can range from 3-16 hours in a typical day. They no longer have a balanced day with their family, sports, friends, and other commitments. Many students go off task during researching for their projects and can eventually become a routine in their daily lives. This can lead to extreme lack of sleep, and can affect personalities and emotions. It’s difficult not to get influenced with the newest selling gadgets, videos, drama, news, or any other entertainment online, especially with Facebook, video games, YouTube, and other media involving in their lives every day. This is already distracting teenagers from their work before they even start surfing online. Teenagers will then spend a large amount of time online just to satisfy their desires for online media. This will add more and more hours of Internet per day before they even realized that they are really addicted. Some students claim that they don’t spend that much time online. However, by frequently checking e-mails, messages, updates, events can add up more and faster than they thought. They don’t know that they actually don’t need to use Internet for everything they need. Nowadays, teen even have Internet to access on their cell phones, and procrastinate as much as they can just before their usual bedtime.
