The article ‘Internet Addiction: Too much time online ‘discusses the youth’s grand addiction to the internet. As well as what it is doing to their mental and physical health. I personally believe that teenagers spend too much time online. As stated in the article, only eight percent of teenagers spend only three or less hours a day. Sixty-five percent spend eight hours or more which would mean that seventy-three percent spends most of their lives on the internet. In one day, there are twenty-four hours in a day. Since they are still young, they need a maximum of ten hours a day, which would mean ten hours away from the computer. Another thing that teenagers need to do is go to school, six hours every weekday. So, if they get enough sleep and go to school properly, they should be, at most getting eight hours of internet use. But that is not common, teenagers these day do not sleep that long and some even skip school as they are so addicted to the internet. By being addicted to the internet, people do not get much social interactions if they did not learn any in their youth. And now that there are online games, that use the internet, it is even more likely that youths are spending way too much time on if you consider how many people are on at eleven at night and longer. Games such as dota and starcraft are some of the popular games that would keep youths online. This is a challenge that will be very difficult to solve.
